We are pleased to be able to offer wine sales and tastings from the Hay Paddock vineyard in our Wine Cellar Door, located in the Tasting Room at Rangihoua Estate.
The Hay Paddock Cellar Door at Rangihoua complements the Rangihoua olive tours and tastings that run throughout the year.
The Hay Paddock vineyard on Waiheke Island was established by Chris Canning in 2003 on a sheltered site close to the ocean in the Onetangi Valley. Chris had identified it as a terroir perfectly suited to growing Syrah and the 2006 vintage was quickly awarded the Trophy for the best Syrah/Shiraz at the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Competition.
Subsequent vintages went on to win multiple Gold Medals in international competitions and 5-Star ratings from leading wine critics. The aim was always to blend and age reds in small to moderate quantities that would appeal to top restaurants and wine enthusiasts.
