Following on from the success of the Good Friday Groove concept last year, I have put together a diverse and exciting range of performers for the day – from the very talented Annah Mac, who has just topped the NZ singles charts, to Julia Deans (ex Fur Patrol), Paul Ubana Jones, Eddie Rayner (Split Enz) & Brian Baker and the young but immensely talented Five Mile Town – who are just about to release their debut EP.Julia Deans Annah Mac Paul Ubana Jones Eddie Rayner & Brian Baker Five Mile Town
So the day will be one to remember, for the music mainly. All of these performers will be playing their hearts out – and playing much of their own music, much of it recognizable, as they have all had substantive radio and TV coverage.
Annah Mac is the featured headline act on the day – she has a brilliant 5 piece band featuring some of the countries top young players – while she may be known for her chart topping songs “the Girl in Stilettos” and “Celia”, she has a wealth of experience, having been in the business since childhood. She is an interesting, intelligent and engaging person/ performer and I am thrilled to be able to showcase her at Waiheke.
Each and every one of the performers featured on the day will deliver a quality experience. All are professionals. Some with real pedigrees, all with talent to burn.
The International Jazz Festival this year will have plenty of Jazz but at the Good Friday Groove I’m looking to grow an appreciation of really great music, that defies being pigeon-holed – a fun for all the family experience, as much as for music connoisseurs.
The remainder of the weekend is very much Jazz orientated. Check out the line up at www.waihekejazzfestival.co.nz
